Rash of I-94 crashes in construction zoneFARGO – Four minor accidents occurred during the Monday morning commute in a construction zone on Interstate 94 when motorists rear-ended cars in traffic bottlenecks.
No injuries resulted in the four accidents, all of which occurred between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., said Capt. Bryan Niewind of the North Dakota State Highway Patrol.
He said slow traffic, with speeds of around 20 to 25 mph, helped prevent injuries.
The separate accidents occurred between the Red River bridge and Veterans Boulevard, with one occurring near the pedestrian bridge between South University Drive and 25th Street, he said.
In each case, drivers failed to heed signs warning of construction ahead, Niewind said.
“The signs are up there; there’s plenty of warning,” he said. “People need to really pay attention and heed the warnings.”
