Former MSUM standout Owen to enter NSIC Hall of FameBURNSVILLE, Minn. – Former Minnesota State University Moorhead multi-sport athlete Kelley Owen will be inducted into the North Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame later this summer, the league has announced.
Owen, a native of Bismarck, starred in both basketball and track at Moorhead State from 1980 to 1983. In track, she was named the team’s outstanding athlete in 1981. A three-time Northern Sun Conference outdoor champion, Owen set the school outdoor record in both the shot put (42-5½) and the javelin (161-0).
Owen also won the javelin in 1982 at the prestigious Drake Relays.
Owen was also a two-time All-NSC team member in basketball. She was team MVP as a senior and scored 887 points in three seasons with the Dragons.
Owen is the 21st representative of the MSUM athletic department to receive induction.
The NSIC Hall of Fame induction ceremony is set for Wednesday, July 10 in St. Cloud, Minn.
