Thousands without power in Minnesota after storms

MINNEAPOLIS — Xcel Energy says nearly 140,000 customers are without power in Minnesota following severe thunderstorms.

The company reports about 1,500 outages affecting about 139,600 customers before 7 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service says some parts of Minnesota got 4 to 5 inches of rain in just a couple hours. More storms are expected tonight.
