‘My Property’ used to get stolen bike backFARGO – The “My Property” program here has helped one bike owner get his bicycle back after it was stolen in late May.
On May 26, a Fargo resident reported his bike was stolen. The victim said he had registered the bike on the city of Fargo’s “My Property” program website but did not have the serial number at the time of the report.
The officer was able to access the system, retrieve the serial number and include it in the report.
A detective then used the serial number to find the bike was pawned at a local shop. The victim got his bike back and charges are now pending against one suspect, said a release from the city.
The “My Property” program allows users to enter pertinent information about their valuable property and retrieve the information anytime. The database can then be used if there is a fire or theft.
