Sanford psychiatrist receives service awardFARGO – The American Psychiatric Association presented its distinguished service award to Dr. Ronald M. Burd, a psychiatrist with Sanford Health.
The award, presented last month in San Francisco, recognized Burd’s “exceptional meritorious service to the field of psychiatry.”
Burd’s service included input on developing guidelines for coding psychiatric services.
Past recipients include former Sens. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and Paul Wellstone, D-Minn., as well as Tipper Gore, wife of former Vice President Al Gore.
“I’m incredibly humbled,” Burd said. “There are a lot of people who do a lot of things for the organization. I’m so grateful.”
Burd, who joined Sanford in 1986, serves as Sanford’s inpatient medical director for psychiatry.
