ND students can apply for military academiesWASHINGTON – Applications for the nation’s military academies are being taken from North Dakota students by Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp and Rep. Kevin Cramer.
The North Dakota delegation encourages all interested high school graduates or graduating seniors to apply for a nomination to one of the academies.
Applicants must be at least 17 years old but not past their 23rd birthday as of July 1, 2014. They must be U.S. citizens, unmarried and have no dependents. They must also demonstrate excellence in academics and leadership.
Applications are available online through the senators’ and congressman’s official websites.
Applications will be taken for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.; the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs, Colo.; the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; and the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y..
The deadline for applications is Oct. 11. Military academy interviews with the delegation are scheduled for Nov. 5 in Bismarck and Nov. 6 in Fargo.
