Historic cooking demos during log cabin toursMOORHEAD – The annual open house at the Bergquist Pioneer Log Cabin here will be from 1 to 4 p.m. June 28-29.
The open house is held in conjunction with the Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival. Free shuttle buses will pick up visitors at the Hjemkomst Center on the hour at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. both days. New this year during the cabin open house will be a live historic cooking demonstration by Tracy Harland, a Dutch oven cooking expert with over 20 years of experience. She bakes bread, churns butter and makes pies using cooking techniques and equipment from the 1800s.
Visitors can also participate in Swedish craft activities and hear about the history of the cabin from archivist Mark Peihl. Refreshments will be served and Amy Klein will play accordion music.
