1 man dead, 1 injured in rollover near DickinsonDICKINSON – A single-vehicle rollover near here Saturday evening killed one man and left another injured.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Hank Thompson, of Dickinson, was northbound on 109th Avenue Southwest about 3 miles southeast of Dickinson when his 2002 Chevy Blazer left the road and entered the west ditch at 8:30 p.m.
He tried to get the vehicle back on the road, but overcorrected and the SUV rolled over before landing on its wheels, entering a field on the east side of the road and starting on fire.
Authorities said Thompson wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. A 21-year-old passenger, Dickinson resident Robert Pilot, also wasn’t buckled and was injured in the crash.
Both were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson, and Thompson was later taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck before he died of his injuries.
Pilot’s condition was unknown Sunday.
