Letter: Thanks friends and communityIt has been one year since I was first diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic with Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive soft tissue cancer. It has been a long year filled with hospital stays, radiation and chemo treatments – still ongoing today. Needless to say, I have not been able to work since first being diagnosed and my medical and living expenses have piled up. Fortunately for me, a group of friends and family organized and held a benefit on my behalf on April 20 at the VFW in Dilworth.
I would very much appreciate it if you will allow me to use this space to thank all of the wonderful businesses in this community that so generously donated food, gift cards, silent auction items and cash. They are too numerous to name.
I would also like to thank all who volunteered their time and talents so that this benefit could happen. And, finally, I would like to thank all who attended to show their support, including people I have never met. The Fargo-Moorhead area is such a great place to live. The people are kind and caring, and it warms my heart to know I have the support of my family, my friends and my community. It has made my journey a little bit easier.
