Memorial march honors soldiers killed in action

BISMARCK – North Dakota National Guard family members honored all of the state’s Guard soldiers killed in the global war on terrorism Sunday.

The sixth “Memorial Road March” took place Sunday in Bismarck, beginning with a short remembrance ceremony at 9:38 a.m., which coincided with the time that Cpl. Curtis Mehrer and Sgt. Travis Van Zoest, both Bismarck natives, were killed in action on June 6, 2006.

Two other soldiers in their unit were killed in Afghanistan, Cpl. Nathan Goodiron, of Mandaree, and Cpl. Christopher Klein-wachter, of Wahpeton.
