Minn. woman saves deer with head stuck in jar
Janet Murphy said the jar covered the deer’s head just below its ears, and that it couldn’t eat or drink. She says it kept showing up around her Hermantown home.
She said calls to 911 and the state Department of Natural Resources didn’t help. Finally someone with a wildlife-rehabilitation program gave her a 10-foot catch pole, which is a long metal rod with a cable noose that can be cinched over an animal’s head.
Murphy said she was able to snag the pole around the jar. She said the deer started jumping as if in a rodeo, but the jar eventually popped off.
