Child welfare group sponsors essay contest

FARGO – The Christian Alliance for Indian Child Welfare is sponsoring an essay contest to draw attention to the physical and sexual abuse of Native American children.

The topic of the contest is “Why Children Are More Important Than Politics,” with a subtopic of “Why Is Our Federal Government Ignoring Child Abuse?”

The 800-1,500 word submissions can be sent to WriteUs@caicw.org.

The top three essays will each win $150, $100, and $75, respectively.

The deadline is Saturday.

The contest is being held in the memory of Roland J. Morris, a member of the Minnesota Chippewa tribe who died in 2004 and who founded the Christian Alliance for Indian Child Welfare.
