Letter: Stand together for immigration

Whether union or non-union, all of America’s workers live by the same principle: Hard work should be rewarded with fair pay. And most workers are seeing less and less of that principle in play in the current economy of the United States, where CEOs and managers see their paychecks and bonuses skyrocket into the clouds, and everyone else is getting paid less and less to do more and more work.

Working immigrants in our country have it even harder with no rights or protections to fight back against employers who take advantage of their status.

When any worker doesn’t have rights, it undermines everyone else. It drives down wages and creates unsafe conditions. It makes it harder for all of us to raise our families and build strong communities.

All our workers must stand together and urge Sens. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., and John Hoeven, R-N.D., and other leaders in Washington, to support worker-centered comprehensive immigration reform.
