Man held in homicide, assault in Mankato

MANKATO, Minn. — A Minneapolis man is being held for an assault that left a woman dead and another man with stab wounds in Mankato.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was killed and a 26-year-old man repeatedly stabbed at a residence about 10 a.m. Thursday. A 24-year-old suspect was arrested about an hour later at a gas station.

Authorities say the suspect was acquainted with the victims. Mankato police say he's being held in the local jail on possible charges of second-degree homicide and second-degree assault.

Police were assisted by the Blue Earth, Nicollet and LeSueur counties sheriff's offices, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
