Heavy rains cause flooding in EmeradoEMERADO, N.D. – Roads and homes near the school here got hit by heavy rains Tuesday night, when hay from nearby fields clogged culverts, and now the town is facing major overland flooding.
Residents worked quickly, using sump pumps to get the water under control. They say they’re lucky they ended up with only a few inches of water in their basements.
“It rose up over the road about calf-deep and some places about knee-deep,” said Grand Forks County sheriff’s Deputy Jake Lanes.
Emerado authorities say residents should limit water use and prepare for more flooding if rains continue.
