Wendorff named soccer’s senior athlete of the year

FARGO – Fargo Davies’ Emily Wendorff has been named the North Dakota senior athlete of the year in girls soccer.

Wendorff, who helped Davies to a third-place finish at last week’s state tournament, joins teammate Paige McCullough on the first-team all-state team, announced Monday by the state’s coaches.

Fargo Shanley, which placed second at state, had three players named to the all-state team.

Davies’ Nick Christianson was named the coach of the year.

First team all-state

Fargo Davies: Paige McCullough, Sr., forward; Emily Wendorff, Sr., forward.

Fargo Shanley: Julia Jordan, Jr., defender; Carly Mickelson, Sr., defender; Anna Reinholz, Jr., midfielder.

Fargo North: Alyssa Gross, Jr., midfielder.

Bismarck Century: Joanna Jensen, Jr., forward; Ashley Westbee, Sr., defender.

Bismarck St. Mary’s: Sydney Miller, Sr., midfielder; Taylor Peterson, Sr., midfielder.

Mandan: Mariah Fredericks, Sr., midfielder.

Minot: Taryn Love, So., midfielder.

Second team all-state

Fargo Davies: Kenzie Carlson, Jr., forward; Reiley Klose, So., forward.

Fargo North: Emma Bergerson, Jr., forward.

Fargo South: Kara Tupa, So., forward.

Grand Forks Red River: Jessica Dallman, So., forward.

Bismarck: Mac Feeney, Sr., forward; Haleigh Springan, Sr., defender; Nicole Wolfer, So., forward.

Bismarck Century: Aly Dollinger, Jr., midfielder.

Bismarck St. Mary’s: Rachel Power, Sr., goalkeeper.
