Madlom earns honors at science competitionMOORHEAD – Lexi Madlom, a student at Park Christian School, recently earned a silver medal at the International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering & Environment Project Olympiad in Houston.
Madlom earned her medal in environmental science. As part of the award, she also earned $300.
Madlom, who just completed her sophomore year at Park Christian, competed against 560 students from 68 countries and 41 states at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
Madlom’s project is titled “Is Earth’s Best Friend Slimy and Green? (Phase II) Algae Based Carbon Dioxide Sequestration From Simulated Flue Emissions and Nutrient Extraction From Eutrophic River Water.”
The project also won awards at the Minnesota Western Regional Science Fair in Moorhead and the State Science Fair in Bloomington, Minn.
