Mass. men face NY charges over NFL GM phone prankBUFFALO, N.Y. — Two 20-year-old Massachusetts men accused of secretly recording and selling a prank phone call involving two NFL general managers are facing federal wiretapping charges in western New York.
Prosecutors say Wednesday that Joshua Barber and Nicholas Kaiser, both of Plymouth, have been charged with arranging the March 8 call between Buddy Nix, then GM of the Buffalo Bills, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM Mark Dominik that ended up being posted on the website Deadspin.com.
They say Barber first rang Nix posing as Dominik, then called Dominik and used the conference call function to link the calls for the conversation recorded by Kaiser.
The men are due in court in Buffalo on June 4. They could face up to five years in prison. A message left for Kaiser wasn't initially returned. There was no answer at a number associated with Barber.
