Central Cass senior Bresnahan wins Gatorade POYCASSELTON – Central Cass senior Ellery Bresnahan was named North Dakota’s Gatorade Player of the Year for baseball on Tuesday.
Bresnahan, a four-sport standout at Central Cass, is the school’s first baseball player to win the award.
The 5-foot-8 catcher, pitcher and outfielder helped the Squirrels to a 10-4 record and a berth in the Class B state tournament, which begins Thursday in Mandan.
Bresnahan is batting .512 with 13 stolen bases and 23 runs scored as Central Cass’ leadoff hitter. He also is 3-0 with a 0.43 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 16 Zc innings pitched.
Bresnahan is now a finalist for the national player of the year award, which is announced later this month.
