Letter: Media standards seem to changeIt is interesting to note how our politicians have progressed over the past 40 years as they do their best to cover their tracks:
Nov. 17, 1973: “People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook. Well, I’m not a crook.”
May 15, 2013: “I will not tolerate ... etc. etc.”
If memory serves me correctly, the media in the ’70s didn’t accuse Congress of playing politics when Sen. Sam Ervin tracked the Watergate crew all the way to the White House. Ah, for the good old days. Will we see another Saturday Night Massacre?
Well, at least “Tricky Dick” didn’t pass the buck!
