Letter: We need more educators like Coach Ed FortinI had the privilege of being mentored, guided and instructed by a man whom we called coach. Ed Fortin had a unique training style that commanded the utmost respect.
One of his many sayings was “practice had to be four times more difficult than any game.” This man new that commitment, hard work and a desire to do your best would always pay off.
He had a way of taking undeserving eighth- and ninth-grade boys and turning them into deserving young men. While he taught the game of football successfully, we all learned how to be successful in life. His recent death made me think about some of the things that happen in today’s world, and I can only hope there are more Ed Fortins coaching today. Thanks, Ed.
