Minn. ex-coach speaks out after child porn charges

MINNEAPOLIS — A former head football coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato, is speaking out after he was cleared of child pornography charges, but fired from his job.

In an interview airing on ESPN's "Outside the Lines," Sunday morning, former coach Todd Hoffner says a simple mistake turned his life upside down, and he wants to return to football coaching.

Hoffner was charged with possessing child pornography last year after school officials found videos of his naked children on his work-issued cellphone. He was cleared after a judge found the videos were not illegal.

Hoffner tells ESPN his heart sank when he was arrested, and it was "painful." While he has had some community support, Hoffner says that after his arrest, he felt like some people treated him like an "ax murderer."
