Letters: Marathon support is appreciated

A quick note of thanks to all of the spectators of the Fargo Marathon: There is no way to express the impact each of you have on runners. I finished the full marathon within my goal in large part due to the support received along the course.

I received high-fives, hugs, snacks, water, ice, cool mist from garden hoses and endless cheers. My favorite memory is receiving a flower (dandelion) at mile 18 from a little boy who just reached out and handed it to me as I went by, not a word spoken. It put a smile on my face and made me forget where I was for a brief moment.

You are there through the good miles and through the hard miles with endless and unconditional support. It renews my faith in the human spirit when complete strangers are willing to give you whatever you need in whatever manner possible. You may think your contribution is minimal, but to us runners, who at times are simply struggling to stay on our feet, your contributions are priceless.

This has truly become a community event. Thank you again.
