Man pleads guilty in officer assaultFARGO – A man has entered a guilty plea in Cass County court after being accused of ramming a screen door into a Fargo police officer’s head.
Justin Hoff, 25, Fargo, entered a written guilty plea to misdemeanor Class B simple assault Friday in Cass County District Court.
Cass County prosecutor Renata Selzer said Hoff was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and a year of unsupervised probation.
Court documents state Hoff was charged after an incident in January in which he and two other men were arrested after police tried to serve a warrant on one of the others at a south Fargo apartment.
The subject of the warrant, James Warren Fobes, 23, Glyndon, Minn., allegedly resisted, and a second man tried to interfere with the arrest. While officers were dealing with the first two, Hoff opened the apartment’s screen door, ramming it into the head of the officer.
