Former UND player, assistant coach named USHL coach of the year

GRAND FORKS — Former University of North Dakota hockey player and assistant coach Cary Eades has been named coach of the year in the United States Hockey League.

Eades led the Sioux Falls Stampede to a 45-17-2 record in his first season. The 45 wins set a team record. The Stampede also earned a team-record 92 points, 51 more than last season. It was the largest turnaround in USHL history.

Eades spent nearly two decades as a UND player and coach and was a part of three national championship teams.
