Letter: Great memories of Ed FortinI truly appreciated Dave Olson’s column (May 16) about Ed Fortin. I, too, have fond memories of Fortin as my junior high physical education teacher and later driver’s education (behind-the-wheel) instructor.
I seem to recall that Fortin, as a physical education teacher, liked to use push-ups as a means of keeping order when his students fell out of order. (I’m glad Fortin never asked me to pull the car off to the side of the road during my driving lesson and said, “All right, get out and give me 20!”)
Years later I would talk with Ed and his wife on Sunday evenings before Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. Fortin was a good man and teacher.
Thank you for your work, love of students and great memories.
