Forecast: Red could hit 20.1 feet by early Friday

FARGO – The Red River in Fargo could rise to 20.1 feet by early Friday morning, according to a National Weather Service forecast.

The forecast on the weather service’s website says it is possible the Red River, which was at about 17 feet around noon Tuesday, could rise to minor flood stage of 18 feet by early today.

However, a weather service spokesman said given the numerous variables involved, including how much rainwater the ground can absorb, it is possible the predicted river heights will not be reached and it’s possible the river will not reach 18 feet in Fargo.
