Red River expected to reach flood stage Wednesday morningFARGO – With many areas in the region having received 2 to 3 inches of rain over the past few days and another 1 to 2 inches possible through Tuesday, the National Weather Service says flooding is possible in a number of spots in the Red River Valley.
The Red River at Fargo was at 16.7 feet early this morning, and it was forecast to reach flood stage of 18 feet by late Wednesday morning.
The Weather Service said other area rivers are also expected to rise over the next day or two, including the Buffalo River in Clay County and the Wild Rice River in Norman County.
The Weather Service gave the following rain totals from Friday to early this morning:
Fargo 1.44 inches; Osage, Minn., 3.71 inches; Park Rapids, Minn., 1.65 inches; Richville, Minn., 1.65 inches; Cavalier, N.D., 5.5 inches; Bisbee, N.D., 2.57 inches, Colfax, N.D., 1.84 inches.
