Rain stops in time for start of full Fargo MarathonFARGO — The premier event in the ninth annual Fargo Marathon is off and running.
A steady ran that began early in the morning had stopped in time for the start of the full marathon, which began Saturday at 8:15 a.m.
The 26.2-mile route winds through residential neighborhoods and downtown Fargo.
About 2,000 people were expected to run the full marathon. The list of entrants includes 35 people who have run all eight previous marathons.
Saturday's schedule included a 10K and half-marathon.
Race officials say they have beefed up security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings last month.
