Davies, North students earn French honors
Students from Fargo Davies and North high schools were among 14 North Dakota students who earned national rankings in the national French contest “Le Grand Concours.”
Davies High School students and how they placed were: Gillian Dahl, sixth at Level 1B; Graham Zola, eighth at Level 1B; Maleah Heitland, ninth at Level 1B; Megan Lorenz, ninth at Level 1B; David Mcmaines, ninth at Level 1B; Katelyn Bye, 10th at Level 1B; Nadia Toumeh, placed eighth at level 2B; Jennifer Shaw, ninth at Level 2B; and Brynn Poppe, 10th at level 2B.
Fargo North High students were: Nafis Piyal, fourth at Level 1A; Brittany Randall-Neppl, ninth at Level 1B; and Karli Smette, 10th at Level 1B.
Bismarck High School student Thadd Hall placed fourth at Level 1A.
Jamestown High School student Ligia Schulz placed seventh at Level 1A.
Students were evaluated for their written, oral and listening comprehension skills in French. Nearly 100,000 students in all 50 states competed in the 2013 event.
The 78th annual Le Grand Concours is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.
