Fargo gets testing site for music assessment programFARGO – Fargo has qualified as a testing site for a new music program that allows students to test their skills according to national standards, according to Paige Keiser-Rezac, owner and director of Shine Music in Fargo and the first local teacher to teach to the standards.
The program is a joint venture between Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music and New York’s Carnegie Hall, and provides a national standard for music education.
Before Fargo qualified for a testing site, the closest location was St. Paul, where students had to drive for assessments.
On Saturday, an adjudicator from Regina, Saskatchewan, will fly into Fargo to perform assessments on 25 area piano students.
In order for Fargo to keep the new testing site, Keiser-Rezac says that at least 25 students must sign up to be assessed each year.
