The Perfect T: Dress up jeans with summer's must-have item

On a trip last week to Los Angeles, I went shopping for one of my former clients.

While visiting all the hottest stores and helping her pick out an amazing summer wardrobe, I discovered something surprising among all the super-expensive designer clothes: A simple T-shirt, great-fitting skinny jeans and a pair of flats is this summer’s affordable and easy go-to outfit.

It used to be that a

T-shirt and jeans was considered a schleppy, too-casual look. Not anymore. This season’s T-shirt exudes effortless style and comfort.

The key is picking the right shape of tee.

Many tops in stores this summer have a bohemian vibe – feminine and fluid, draping the body instead of skin tight.

Dolman sleeves make the T-shirt flowy and loose, and give it an easy fit. Many shirts are longer so you can half tuck the tee, a trend I’m seeing everywhere. Most commonly the I’ve noticed tees tucked in the front and left out in the back, resulting in an effortlessly chic look.

Tees are seen in a wide array of fun colors and patterns, especially stripes.

Pair your feminine, flowy tee with your best-fitting skinny jeans. The skinny boyfriend jean is perfect to show off your gladiator sandals.

Top off your look with a long chain necklace and crossover bag, and you will be on point for all the best trends this summer.

Looking effortlessly chic could never be easier.
