Former Minnesota pastor sentenced for criminal sex conductHASTINGS, Minn. — A former West St. Paul pastor has been sentenced to five years in prison after an alleged affair with a 16-year-old girl who was a parishioner.
Thirty-nine-year-old Gustaro Resendiz Talabera was sentenced Tuesday in Dakota County court after pleading guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Talabera will be on conditional release for another 10 years. The Star Tribune reports the judge also ordered him to pay restitution to the girl and her parents and to register as a predatory offender.
Talabera disappeared with the girl on Sept. 26, 2012. The girl did not attend school that day and told her mother she would be home sick, but she was missing.
Police tracked the cellphones of the girl and Talabera to Chicago, and Talabera was arrested in Joliet, Ill.
