Man accused of luring teen, selling her drugs
Jeremy Spencer Woolsey, 20, was arrested Friday, the day after the 14-year-old girl was found in his home, according to Lt. Dwight Love, a spokesman for the Grand Forks Police Department. She is safe and at home with her mother.
The suspect is in Polk County jail in Crookston.
According to Grand Forks court documents, the girl told police that she had been in an online relationship with Woolsey for three months. She said he asked her to “sneak” out of her home to meet him.
The Herald had earlier named the girl when police sought help in finding her, but is not doing so now because of her alleged involvement with Woolsey. She was reported missing Sunday night.
An examination of the girl’s laptop revealed a chat conversation between her and Woolsey in which they discussed having sex and using drugs and alcohol when they meet, according to police documents. In one conversation around noon on May 4, a Saturday, the girl told Woolsey “we can have sex then” and he replied “it don’t matter to me. we can do it in the shower”.
The next day, she left her home, he picked her up and took her back to his apartment where they stayed until police found her, police said.
The girl told police that Woolsey had asked her several times to have sex with him while she was there.
Love declined to offer more details on the case, saying that the case is still under investigation and more charges are possible.
According to Grand Forks police, Woolsey is charged in Grand Forks County with luring a minor by computer or other electronic means, a felony with a maximum prison sentence of five years. He is charged in Polk County with a controlled substance crime in the third degree involving sale to a minor.
Woolsey’s Facebook page, which carries his full name and photos, says he is a 2010 graduate of Community High School in Grand Forks who works as a cook at the Eagle’s Club in East Grand Forks. It states that he is “in a relationship” but does not show with whom. The girl is not one of his Facebook friends.
