Letter: Thanks for help by Hornbacher’sI’m writing to express a huge thank-you to the wonderful people at Hornbacher’s for their work in support of The Village’s Big Brothers Big Sisters program over the past several months. Their enthusiasm and commitment were key in raising more than $54,000 in support of this program.
It costs The Village roughly $1,000 to initiate a match, provide the supervision, perform background checks and do the appropriate follow-up with each of our matches. This means that there are 54 kids in our community who come from single-parent families who will now have the mentorship, support and connectedness with an adult who has a real and continuing interest in this young person’s challenges and successes as they navigate through their young lives.
The community spirit represented by Hornbacher’s continuing commitment to this program is laudable. Over the many years they’ve partnered with us, more than $250,000 has been raised. Their sense of community and their support of this effort as well as a number of other community efforts are part of what makes the Fargo-Moorhead a great place to live.
Thanks to the management, and all of the great Hornbacher’s folks who got behind this effort and set this year’s record. A special thanks, also, to the thousands of community members who added $1 to their purchase for a bowling pin, all of which went to the support of the program. You are all truly heroes in support of these kids.
