Barnier leaving MSUM track program for TexasMOORHEAD – Minnesota State Moorhead track and field coach Keith Barnier has resigned to take the head coaching job at Abilene Christian in Texas.
Barnier, a 1984 MSUM graduate and former track standout, was the Dragons’ track and field coach for the last 11 seasons. He led the Dragon men to two conference championships (indoor and outdoor in 2011) and the Dragon women to a conference outdoor title in 2006.
Barnier’s wife, Sylvia, is a graduate of Abilene Christian and former track standout at the school. Abilene Christian is in its second year of transitioning to Division I.
MSUM athletic director Doug Peters said a national search to replace Barnier will begin as soon as possible.
