Longtime UND Foundation CEO O'Keefe to retire
His last day will by March 31.
O’Keefe, a 1971 alumnus of the university, became the CEO of the foundation and executive vice president of the association in August 2002.
“This chapter of my personal and professional life has been a privilege,” he said in his resignation letter to the board of directors. “I can’t imagine more rewarding work, in my case for an organization and a mission so close to my heart and so critical to the public good and future of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, our region, and my beloved State of North Dakota.”
His most recent accomplishment was leading the foundation through a fundraising campaign, surpassing, in March, the $300-million goal with eight months to spare.
O’Keefe said in a separate email that he will now focus on “transformational fund raising projects,” the homecoming celebration to come and the transition to a new leader for the foundation and association.
A transition task force will be assembled, to be chaired by foundation Chairman Al Royse and association Chairwoman Kris Compton.
