North Broadway Bridge to reopen at noon todayFARGO – The North Broadway Bridge will reopen to traffic at noon Wednesday, leaving only one bridge between Fargo and Moorhead closed for flood-related reasons.
The First Avenue North Bridge remains closed because of the temporary clay dike on Second Street blocking the Fargo side of the bridge.
Work began Monday to remove the dike.
“It should be gone a week from now,” city Traffic Engineer Jeremy Gorden said Wednesday.
The Red River at Fargo was at 20.95 feet as of 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, after reaching a preliminary crest of 33.32 feet on May 1.
The National Weather Service projects the river will drop below flood stage, which is 18 feet, early next week. That’s also the river level at which Elm Street North is closed between 14th and 15th avenues.
