Eleanor Laing Law Grants awardedFARGO – The Fargo Public Schools Development Foundation has awarded Eleanor Laing Law Grants to support the following initiatives:
• Washington Elementary was awarded $10,420 to invite author Kathryn Otoshi to visit all elementary schools to promote a strong anti-bullying message.
• Clara Barton/Hawthorne Elementary was awarded $9,740 to support reading book room materials and strategies to foster student achievement toward self-reliance.
• District curriculum teachers were awarded $2,541 to begin teaching and assessing with national common core standards to ensure all students are college and career ready in literacy by the end of high school.
Eleanor Laing Law taught journalism at Agassiz School in the 1930s. She bequeathed her estate to the Fargo Public Schools Development Foundation in 2002 to establish a permanent fund to support literacy, writing and library projects.
