Force take 8 players in Phase 1 of USHL draftFARGO – The Fargo Force selected eight play-ers in Phase 1 of the 2013 United States Hockey League Draft Monday night.
Christian Cakebread, a forward from Gilbert, Ariz., was signed to tender, which replaced Fargo’s first-round pick and means he will play a minimum of 50 percent of the team’s games in the 2013-14 sea-son.
The Force took Brody Stevens, a forward out of Detroit, Mich., with the 43rd pick and goalie Matt Jurusik from La Grange, Ill., with their 58th pick. Forwards Gregory Aliotta, of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Colt Conrad, of St. Alphonse, Manitoba, were the Force’s 73rd and 76th picks, respectively, and Evan Bell, a defenseman from Livonia, Mich., was taken 83rd overall by the Force. The Force rounded out Phase 1 with forwards Zach Sitarz, of Ham Lake, Minn., and Gage Mackie, of Anchorage, Ala., with the 103rd and 118th picks, respectively.
Phase 2 will be Tuesday night, but will end after press time.
