GF’s Columbia Road shuts down for repairGRAND FORKS – A major traffic disruption in Grand Forks began Sunday as Columbia Road closed for the summer to undergo a facelift.
The $4.2 million construction project will shut down the road from its DeMers Avenue interchange to 11th Avenue South in an attempt to smooth the street and expand it to six lanes.
Nearly 26,000 vehicles travel on Columbia daily and will have to use detours and alternate routes to get to their destinations.
It is scheduled to partially reopen in mid-August, with all construction on this section expected to wrap up in October.
