Letter: Let’s leave the oil money in the west

I have several family members who live in the Cass County area. I grew up there and have now lived in McKenzie County area for several years.

I have been out west through the slow times of oil and now am living through the growth that is increasing daily. I don’t understand how the government and people in the east feel it is within their right to use the money from the west’s oil field expansion to assist them with their issues of the flooding when the government won’t use the money to assist those communities going through the economic and personal expansion that need the money to improve the internal local utilities. That’s not to mention the road work that needs to be kept up under the old monies. It just can’t keep up.

I feel those in the eastern part of North Dakota should use what they reap from their own industries and let us use our money to upgrade the infrastructure and roadways. Quit whining about the flood every year; get out if you can’t stand the heat in the kitchen. Same goes for continually living in that same area. If you’re not willing to deal with the issue every time it occurs, better yourself by moving. Leave the oil money where it came from!
