UND, Lake Region join forces for drone trainingGRAND FORKS — The University of North Dakota and Lake Region State College are combining on an unmanned aircraft systems program.
The two schools signed an agreement Friday that opens the door for training of UAS pilots, sensor operators and technicians.
The Devils Lake college aims to expand its law enforcement training program to include drones. School officials say Lake Region has graduated more than 1,200 students from its peace officer training program since 1987.
The contract calls for Lake Region to become affiliated with UND's Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Research.
