Rose Creek to go back to old hole-numbering systemFARGO – Rose Creek Golf Course is going back to its old numbering system. The front nine is now the back nine, and vice versa.
Head professional Matt Cook said pace of play was the primary reason with play getting too bogged down during the first five holes. The big culprit was the par-5 third hole and its challenging hazard down the left side.
“People would be looking for their ball and then they had a challenging next shot,” Cook said. “Then it was a par 3 followed by another difficult par 4. It seemed like forever to get out of the gate.”
The nines were switched about 10 years ago so the pro shop could have better visibility of the first tee. But a levy built two years ago shielded both No. 1 and 10 from the clubhouse, so a system of cameras on both tees will be used this year.
“This way there will be better finishing holes and the routing will be better,” Cook said. “I hope it will be a well-received change.”
