Flags to fly at half-staff for former ND Gov. William GuyBISMARCK — Gov. Jack Dalrymple has directed all flags be flown at half-staff in North Dakota in honor of former Gov. William Guy.
Dalrymple says he's asking all flags to be at half-staff from sunrise Tuesday to sunset Thursday.
Guy died Friday. He was 93.
Guy was North Dakota's longest-serving governor. He was elected to four terms as governor from 1960 through 1972, but two of his races were for two-year terms. North Dakota's governorship did not carry a four-year term until 1964.
Memorial services for Guy are slated Tuesday in Fargo and Thursday in Bismarck. A private burial is slated Thursday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
