Woman unhurt despite crossing opposite lanes

WEST FARGO – A woman who over-steered and drove off westbound Interstate 94 here Saturday escaped injury despite crossing both lanes of eastbound traffic before striking a fence, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

The incident happened at about 4:47 p.m. Saturday near the Sheyenne Street exit in West Fargo, the patrol said.

The driver, Elaine Face, 75, of Fargo, was headed from Fargo to Mapleton when she tried to pass a slower moving vehicle on

I-94 but over-steered and drove off the road, the patrol said.

The car crossed the center median and both lanes of eastbound traffic before entering the south ditch and striking a fence, the patrol said.

Face, who was not wearing a seat belt, was not injured, the patrol said. The 2010 Ford Fusion she was driving sustained about $4,000 in damage to the front end, the patrol said. Face was cited for failure to maintain lane.
