Letter: She should open her own clinic

In the April 22 issue of The Forum, Linda Thomas Anderson of Moorhead went on a lengthy tirade about the evils of North Dakota’s anti-abortion stance.

I’d like to address two things: First, this legislation does not “erase 100 years of women’s civil rights” unless it denies things such as paid maternity leave, opportunities for equal school education and activities and the right to vote, which it doesn’t. Secondly, I wonder how she figures on not “voting on a straight party ticket” when she isn’t a resident.

If I were to offer some advice to Anderson, I would say stop writing ignorant letters labeling the people of North Dakota “clueless, classless morons” and start up your own clinic in Moorhead. If people from around North Dakota can make it to Fargo to get an abortion, certainly they can drive the extra eight miles over the Red River. Plus, the North Dakota Legislature can’t do a thing about it.
