'Koran by Heart’ documentary and discussion set for SundayFARGO – The public is invited to a screening of the documentary, “Koran by Heart,” and post-film discussion at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Carlson Branch of the Fargo Public Library, 2801 32nd Ave. S.
Directed by Greg Barker, “Koran by Heart” captures the excitement of Egypt’s International Holy Koran Competition, one of the Islamic world’s most prestigious contests. The documentary follows three young people who have dedicated their lives to honoring their families, countries and cultures through memorization of the holy text.
The film discussion will be led by Dr. Chris Whitsel, assistant professor of sociology at NDSU; Fawzia Riji, NDSU English major; and Dr. David B. Myers, executive director of the Center for Interfaith Projects.
