Letter: We shouldn’t be ‘using’ anyone

Regarding “Using the students less ...”:

This latest wording by Fargo City Administrator Pat Zavoral (April 24, “City may scale back flood prep”) shows the real problem in Fargo. Why should we have to “use” anybody – and expect them to volunteer to sandbag? Why should we have to “use” the federal government for funding for permanent flood relief?

North Dakota brags heavily about the amount of money coming from the Oil Patch, and spreads heavy propaganda about “state’s rights” and why the EPA is evil. But when it comes time to put the money down for permanent flood control, Fargo’s mayor continues to beg for money from the federal government.

More North Dakota greed and hypocrisy at its worst. I’m so glad I moved to the other side of the river. We may be poor, but at least we don’t feel the need to talk out of two sides of our mouths to avoid the real problem.
