Fargo Theatre makes final push for digital conversionFARGO – The Fargo Theatre is making its final push in its digital conversion campaign, designating May 1 as the official wrap day.
The theater is roughly 10 percent, or $20,000, from reaching its goal of $200,000, Executive Director Emily Beck said at a press conference on Wednesday morning.
That money would allow the theater to purchase and install digital projection equipment. The switch to digital is necessary because soon studios will no longer produce or distribute on 35 millimeter film, the format currently used by the Fargo Theatre.
Once the final $20,000 of the theater’s campaign is reached, Beck said work on installing the digital equipment would begin almost immediately.
“It’s an absolute necessity for us,” she said.
Donations can be made online at www.fargotheatre.org, or in person at the theater’s concession stand. The Fargo Theatre is located at 314 Broadway in downtown Fargo.
